A great source of links - but these sites already have their own user base - you are not dependant on the search engines so completely - good to diversify the traffic streams.
Google is really paying attention to the activity on these sites, some refer to Google as actually ‘camping out’ on these sites - spidering them continually. If you watch your log files, you can see Search Engine Spider activity to your site almost immediately after you post an article to the better Web 2.0 sites.
After listening to a Podcast by Michael Campbell of InternetMarketingSecrets.com, where he interviewed Collin McDougall - I embarked upon the next stage of my Web 2.0 Training by conducting a few of my own experiments. Sure enough, I’ve been able to get top placements in Google in as little as 10 minutes.
No Shit!
Well, it didn’t take long, now that I’ve been ‘awakened’, for it to occur to me that perhaps if I did some homework, caught up to the industry and found a list of twenty or thirty of these super-active sites - that I might be able to take over more than one of the top 10 in Google, or perhaps twenty of the top fifty listings…
Just two short years ago, it used to take weeks or months to get a new site indexed by Google. Great effort was put into seeking out link trades, writing articles and press releases to gain links to your site - and the attention of the search engine spiders. In this environment, text link selling was popular, and profitable, for sites with high Google PageRank.
The entire method of online marketing - yes, the entire playing field has completely changed. These days, with Google hanging out so reliably at these Web 2.0 sites, and the top search rankings changing in an instant - it seems to me that Google search results are now mixing in a great deal more of the latest word in the conversation, as well as static, well trusted content.
As I’ve been compiling a good many more Social Bookmarking sites to add to My List of Web 2.o Sites, and as I continue to seek out and listen to Podcasts about the workings of Web 2.0 on search engine rankings, the more excited I’m getting!
Check back soon for some updates on a Case Study I’m preparing…
