Preparing Your Blog For Social Bookmarking

I was happy with myself for setting up an account with del.icio.us.  I felt powerful when I put a link to del.icio.us in the sidebar of my Blog.  And I felt like a genius when I found and installed the free multi-bookmarking script at Addtobookmarks.com

These are all good steps - but I’m here to tell you that you can skip all those and jump directly to OnlyWire.com.  Before you copy the url and head over there, be warned that you will need, oh, about an hour to set everything up if you are like me, and just starting to include the bookmarking icons to my sites and blogs.

After I registered for my free account with OnlyWire, I quickly logged in.  Then I was presented with a long page where some 30 usernames and passwords can be entered - one for each of the individual Social Bookmarking services. Whew.  Registering for all those sites seems like a daunting and tedious task.  And it will be - but it will only have to be done once. 

And I’m wondering - once it’s all set up - and I’ve entered my username and password for all the different services, then it seems to me that I take some one-link master code and paste it to my site or blog.  To my mind, everyone who comes to my site - and who click on this link - will be registering my same site with my Bookmarking account over and over again…  I’m not sure yet.  And I’ll admit that it might be a few days before I’m inspired to slogg through and organize all those registrations.
